The work environment
has absorbed an excessive amount of a person’s life
at too high a personal cost. More and more people live to
work instead of working to live. Stress, health problems,
unattended children and marital splits are social illnesses
for which no one wants to take the blame. Coaching
is an ideal way of waking up to the dissonance and of helping
people find the path toward achieving personal goals. Many
are those who have discovered that regular sessions with
an external, personal
coach have transformed the
quality of both their personal and professional efforts.
Coaching
is especially appropriate when a person feels he doesn’t
know what he wants, whilst knowing he wants something different
from what he has obtained until now. It is also indicated
for people that, although they know what they want, don’t
know how to reach their goals because they lack the map
that shows them how to direct their efforts.
There exist other cases in which a
person makes huge efforts toward achieving their goals
yet do not advance because they are hooked on strategies
that are not effective and they do not consider new alternatives
or are not flexible enough to accept change.
There are yet other cases in which
we find people that doubt that their actions bring them
closer to their goals. They need to compare and contrast
information regarding their efforts.
A personal
coach is a person that helps his clients define
goals of all types, analyze their position relative to
that of those goals, and to define a plan of action and
establish a calendar. A personal
coach encourages his client to undertake sustained
activity, to evaluate results and if what has been done
until now does not work, to stimulate the search for alternatives.
A personal coach
is the fastest and surest way of achieving one’s
goals.
